Saddle Leather Work
Saddle repair is a long lost trade that has faded off and isn’t as popular as it used to be because horses are not our main source of travel. People still ride for fun or competition so saddle repair is still needed to an extent but not like it once was. Chris’s uncle does a little leather work for fun and I had an old saddle that we were going to use for Lyza’s new born session and the horn leather was coming off. He jumped right on and said he would fix it for me. I thought it would be a cool time to pull out the camera and get some fun shots.
We set up a little shoot on the edge of the barn with some stuff laying around. While he was working on the saddle I moved around and got some fun shots. The detail and work that goes into just fixing the horn was so cool. He had to take the tool and go through each hole and pull the string back through and tie it. I’m so grateful to have people in my life that love to do fun stuff and are willing to put up with an impromptu photoshoot to go along with it!
