This episode we were lucky to have Chris Dickinson from Chris Dickinson Photography (aka CDPhotog). Chris is a ranch lifestyle photographer from Utah where he lives with his wife and kids.
Chris started out in the finance world before he got into photography. Him and his wife started their own business. Joe, his wife has a dog training business. Together they work “back to back” as he says together on their businesses.
One of the questions I asked Chris was, Is it worth taking a risk following your dreams? His answer was YES! It is totally worth it but you have to be in it for the long haul from the 12 hour days to the days you are just ready to throw in the towel. If you are passionate about something then it makes it totally worth it.
Another question I asked Chris was, What is your absolute favorite thing to shoot, and his answer was of course, ranch lifestyle. He said there is nothing like capturing the essence of a branding or what life is really like on the ranch.
Chris is also big into education for photographers and I have already learned so much from him. There might have been a few tears when it came to talking about how much he has impacted my photography career. He really does know his stuff and will help you in any way that he can.
