You know when you meet one of those people that makes a huge impact on your life? Well Darlene was one of those people. I didn’t really know her but I knew of her. Her daughter passed away unexpectedly several years ago when Rowdy was little and Darlene almost lost her life as well. God saved her to have a story to tell and she touches so many people with it. Rowdy has the best grandmother to raise him and he really is a sweet fun loving boy who never meets a stranger. As soon as I got there he welcomed me in and wanted to show me around everywhere. We started out by with a little set up that Darlene put together with his mom’s saddle and cowboy hat. It was really special to have parts of her there during his photo shoot. Then he took me in the pasture to show me his pony. The pony wasn’t very interested so he got his bike out instead and road it all over. The second half of his photo shoot we started out in their workshop. Rowdy loves to carve soap figurines and he’s really good. Then he wanted to dress up in his Halloween costume and I can tell you he was very entertaining. And then part of the shoot we were down in the creek and he had his “good” clothes on. Well you know how it is with any little boy he ended up in the creek completely wet but it was totally worth it.
I’m so thankful that our paths crossed because Darlene told me her story and it really changed my life and taught me to appreciate the time that we have here on this earth because we really never know when it will be our last. This job goes way beyond me picking up a camera it has brought so many amazing people in my life like Darlene and I could not be more thankful!
