I was so excited to attend the Black Lick Cattle Company’s annual cattle sale up in Rural Retreat Virginia. I met Sarah about a year ago and we have become good friends. She is also an amazing photographer to and we love getting together for shoots. Here are a few pictures from our visit!
I was working on my family tree & discovered a census from 1880 that stated my ancestor, Charles Gideon & Mary Jane Hagee lived in Black Lick, Wythe county VA. I searched it “under images” & a historical cabin came up which I recognized to be what I believe to be the homestead Hagee built. I have a sketch of it that my great aunt drew. Incredible coincidence! Couldn’t believe the house is still standing? But you wanna know what really takes the cake? The next picture that caught my eye was of the cowboy on the horse- that you took – looks identical to my my mom’s cousin, Scott Hagee. It is so uncanny! Anyway, fat chance, it’s been quite a few generations but would you know if person portrayed happens to be a Hagee??? I swear he looks more like my good looking cousin Scott than his own brother! Hahaha! Wouldn’t that be something…
GREAT PHOTOGRAPHY! It’s definitely extra attention grabbing in this case!
Thanks!
Tammy

Hey! That is so cool! I don’t know what that guys name is he was working the back pens at the sale. My good friends used to own Blacklick Cattle and this guy helps him. I can reach out to her and ask what his name is. Their last names are Sarah & Edwin Wagoner
