Why I don’t do mini sessions…
I know this is a hot topic in the photography world. But **MIC DROP** I don’t do mini sessions. They are very popular and a lot of photographers do them around the holidays and special occasions, but I don’t. I’m not knocking them in anyway nor the photographers that do them. They are just not for me or my clients.
The main reason that mini sessions are not for me is that I talk A LOT. Like I’m the friend that my friends leave standing in the driveway and I’m still talking as they are pulling out. So limiting my time to only 20-30 minutes is like trying to put a lid on a boiling pot of water. It’s just going to trickle over!
I did a mini session one time titled, “Princess & Pony Sessions” and it sounded like a good idea, but after it was all said and done I told the other photographer that I didn’t ever want to do that again. Trying to herd kids and horses (with an assistant) for six hours I was so emotionally and physically exhausted. When it come down to it I felt like towards the end I couldn’t give 100% go my clients and thats not what I want to do.
During a session I want each client to feel special and get 100% of my mind and not just a part of it. I want to get to know my clients on a personal level and not just feel like I’m taking their money and running.
So you may be a photographer or a client and if you choose to shoot a mini session, that is awesome. At Christmas time I recommend photographer friends to clients that ask about mini sessions. Certain people are made to do them and they kill it every year, but it is not me!
