Some shoots are about perfect poses, perfect light, and having everything planned out.
And then there are shoots like Rylan’s.
I wanted this one to feel fun, laid-back, western, and a little different. I knew I wanted to shoot it in black and white, and instead of reaching for my usual lenses, I grabbed my wide-angle and decided we were just going to have fun with it.
No overthinking. No trying to make everything perfect. Just Rylan, a little western attitude, and a whole lot of playing around with perspective.
The wide-angle lens let us get close, pull back, exaggerate the surroundings, and create images that felt a little more raw and editorial. Paired with black and white, everything came together with that timeless western feel I was after.
And honestly? These are the kinds of shoots I love.
The ones where we can throw the “rules” out the window, experiment a little, laugh a lot, and create something that feels like you.
Rylan brought the personality, I brought the wide-angle lens, and somewhere in the middle we ended up with a gallery full of black-and-white western goodness.
Sometimes you just have to grab your camera, have some fun, and see what happens.
And I’m pretty sure we did exactly that.
